Daughter of God: Public Workshop

  • 1726 Locust Street Philadelphia, PA, 19103 United States (map)

LOAM and collaborators present an interactive workshop in Philadelphia of our newly commissioned one-woman chamber opera.

The opera follows Leah, a Christian influencer fighting a losing battle with cancer, as she prepares to upload her consciousness to an AI, Thea.

Creative team: Christopher Bell - composer, Susan Bywaters - librettist, Joanne Evans, mezzo-soprano, Micah Gleason - music director , George Miller - director, as well as musicians from the Curtis Institute of Music and panelists from Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Workshop will include the presentation of the first 2 scenes of the opera, as well as a a panel discussion featuring specialists in related fields (cognitive science and machine learning, digital media, music and performance, and religious fanaticism), with Q&A to discuss themes in the work and to also give the audience the chance to weigh in on the fate of the characters, Leah and Thea.
